STRIKING BROOCH "ROTES LOCH"
1948 Switzerland, Zurich

Origin: Switzerland, Zurich.
Date: 2006.
Material: Silver, white and red acrylic lacquer, stainless steel.
Weight: 24.5 g.
Measurement: 6 x 4.5 cm.

Description: Signed 'Otto Künzli' and '2006'. Otto Künzli (born 1948 in Zurich) is one of the leading figures in contemporary designer jewellery. His works are characterised by a minimalist design language and a conceptual exploration of material, perception and value. This piece also follows this approach: the simple, white rectangular form is accentuated by the eponymous red hole, which, as a striking visual focal point, defines the minimalist, geometric design.

The brooch was part of the Otto Künzli exhibition 'I made it – You name it' in 2015 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, illustrated on p. 162.
