Strohmeyer & Carpenter Silver Gelatin Photograph 'Basil Golden Xenia Lad'

A signed silver gelatin photograph Basil Golden Xenia Lad by livestock photography specialists Strohmeyer & Carpenter. This photograph depicts a prize Jersey bull, Basil Golden Xenia Lad who was Grand Champion at the Kentucky State Fair in 1951 and 1953 and was owned by a Mrs. Gamble of Happy Valley Farm. This piece is signed in plate to the lower left and has an applied label with title to the lower portion of the composition, on top of the glazing. The photograph is presented in black and white matting, behind glass, and in a black beveled frame. The verso of this piece is equipped to hang.

Henry A. Strohmeyer and John T Carpenter together formed the livestock photography company Strohmeyer & Carpenter in 1928 and from that time until the mid-sixties traveled tens of thousands of miles each year, throughout the U.S. and Canada, photographing livestock for many famed clients, including presidents and industry leaders. *
