Sutcliffe Pressings Ltd., 'ZIP Super Charge' clockwork tinplate speedboat, with original box, British, circa 1936–38, pre-war, produced at Horsforth, Leeds, during the second half of the 1930s, pressed tinplate vessel has a bright red hull beneath a cream-painted deck, fitted towards the bow with twin raised ventilator cowls and carrying the circular 'SUTCLIFFE MODEL / BRITISH MADE' transfer. The centre of the deck retains the particularly attractive original red-and-blue 'ZIP / SUPER CHARGE' transfer surrounding the large knurled winding boss. A small angular glazed windscreen is positioned ahead of the open cockpit area, with further deck fittings towards the stern, beneath the stern is the original propeller assembly together with the unusually prominent external painted-metal rudder, intended to allow the course of the boat to be set before launching, approximately 260 mm long overall × 90 mm wide.
