Suzy Saxophone. 1928.
"Suzy Saxophone" was a French-German silent film starring Anny Ondra, a jazz and dance-obsessed flapper. Her parents, however, do not approve of these interests and ship her off to boarding school in England; her friend Suzy is also sent to England, but her parents want her to get her nose out of the books and become a chorus girl. The groundwork is perfectly set for the girls to switch places, and the new Suzy becomes fully immersed in the world of jazz. It would appear that her friend's fate fades into the background noise of the animated musicians performing alongside Suzy.
