An album of 35 fine colour aquatint Swiss views after Johann Jakob Wetzel, Gabriel Lory and Samuel Birmann, circa 1820 -1830, 35 highly-finished hand-coloured aquatint views heightened with gum arabic, on pale cream wove paper, including 3 views by C. Rordorf after J. J. Wetzel, 3 by J. Hurlimann after Wetzel, 15 by Hurlimann after Lory, 4 by F. Hegi after Wetzel, 5 by S. Birmann (after his own designs) and 1 by Weber after Meyer, tissue guard to each plate, each with printed caption to lower margin, final plate (Vue d'Interlaken) in smaller format and loose at rear, plate sizes generally 25.5 x 32 cm (10 x 12 1/2 inches), sheet size of the plates generally 29 x 41.5 cm, 23 leaves of descriptive text bound in at front, of which 18 leaves are supplied in contemporary manuscript in brown ink, leaf size 46 x 33 cm, contents re-guarded, early ownership signature to front pastedown of Isabel E. Lecky dated August 1842, minor marginal soiling to text leaves, contemporary olive green half morocco over marbled boards, somewhat discoloured to edges and heavily rubbed, modern plain reback, large folio (binding size 47.5 x 36 cm) (Quantity: 1) A fine collection of large-format aquatint views of the Swiss and Italian lakes, combining remarkable detail and picturesque feeling by the leading aquatint publishers of the day Johann Jakob Wetzel (1781-1834) Gabriel Lory (1784–1846) and Samuel Birmann (1793-1847), including plates from Wetzel's Voyage pittoresque aux Lacs de Zurich, Zug, Lowers, Egeri et Wallenstadt (1819) ,Voyage pittoresque au Lac Geneve (1820), Lory's Voyage pittoresque de l'Oberland bernois (1822) and Souvenirs de la Suisse, ou, Recueil de vues remarquables pour faire suite au Voyage pittoresque dans l'Oberland bernois (1829), and Birmann's Souvenirs de la vallée de Chamonix (1826).
