Syrian Archaic Stone Stamp Seal Bead, Geometric Design

Ancient Near East, Syria, Archaic Period, ca. 2500 to 1800 BCE. A fine hand-carved stamp seal bead displaying a hemispherical body and flat face bearing a minimalistic geometric pattern. Boasting a smooth surface, the lovely stamp features mottled hues of grey, cream, and black. An annular drill hole horizontally pierces the piece, allowing it to be suspended and worn on a necklace or bracelet. Size: 1" in diameter (2.5 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired in 2002; ex-Venus Gallery, Israel
