T H White (Terence Hanbury "Tim" White 29 May 1906 – 17 January 1964) Sword in the Stone author, a 1939 handwritten postcard to Miss Winifred Medway, the postcard in pen and ink "Dear Miss Medway - Thank you very much for your kind letter about The Sword and the Stone, I hope you often write to authors like this, as it gives many a giant kick, though they pretend it doesn't. You will please excuse this post card. I have no other stamps at the moment and am living in a farmhouse 5 miles from the nearest post office, without a car.
