T&J CALDWELL CALLAWAY CO MISSOURI EARLY OVOID STONEWARE

The nicely fired ovoid form stoneware storage jar from the early 19th century was thrown in Callaway County which was organized in 1820, a year before Missouri became a state, and named for Captain James Callaway, grandson of Daniel Boone. The Caldwell pottery operated from the 1820s to the 1870s.

Measures 14 x 8.5 inches.
