TABACS AJJA - c. 1935

Original Belgian flat enamel advertising sign with raised edges and handles.
65 x 55 cm. “Odon Warland (Cébétama) ADM.Del. Rue de Koninck 40, Brussels – 1935”

Good condition –

Retains very good colors and a beautiful luster.
The reds are intense, particularly fresh and luminous.
The surface reveals very subtle original firing bubbles around the collar and face, resulting in very slight, localized color variations of a microscopic nature.
There are also subtle traces of superficial scratches.
A major chip is located in the upper left corner, accompanied by a few minor imperfections along the outer edge.

- The overall condition remains very satisfactory -

Founded in the late 19th century by André Joseph Jacobs Aîné in Brussels, the AJJA cut tobacco brand owes its acronym to the initials of its historic founder, who was associated with the Jacobs and Teurlings factory established in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
In 1928, at the height of his commercial success thanks to the popularity of his “Boule Nationale” cigarette, industrialist Odon Warland, director of Fabrique de Cigarettes SA Warland, purchased the facilities of the Jacobs & Teurlings firm and incorporated the AJJA brand into his distribution empire.
