TAFT, WILLIAM HOWARD
Inscribed photograph as President. [Washington:] 25 November 1910. A Harris & Ewing bust length portrait of Taft inscribed below the image in ink "To the Wash (?) Room officers of the U.S.S. Tennessee with pleasure in the recollection of having been their guest and shipmate/Nov. 25 1910/Wm. H. Taft". 13 1/4 x 9 inches (34 x 23 cm); framed. With a dark inscription, unexamined out of frame.
In November 1910, President Taft travelled on the armored cruiser U.S.S. Tennessee on a round trip voyage to Panama to inspect progress on the canal. The ship returned to Hampton Roads on 22 November 1910 and this photograph was inscribed for the shipmen a few days later.
