Cherry and White Pine case, with 8-day time and strike brass movement, painted dial having a calendar bit, seconds bit, decorated with a phoenix bird and blossoms, marked "Nathan Hale, Windsor", the case with fretwork bonnet adorned with three brass steeple finials, stepped tombstone glass door and sides, simple columns with brass fittings, molded case resting on bracket feet, having figured molded midcase door. Includes original pendulum, weights, crank winder and case key. 89" (7'-5") tall, 21" x 11 1/2", very good condition.Nathan Hale's father was Col. Nathan Hale (1743-1780), who served with distinction in the Revolutionary War, was captured at Ticonderoga and died aboard the British prison hulk moored at New Utrecht, Long Island (now part of Brooklyn).
