TANG YIN (1470-1524)
Dimensions: 62 cm x 24 cm
A narrow landscape painting mounted as a hanging scroll, the composition built from layered rocky slopes, clusters of trees and softly modulated ink washes. The restrained palette and vertical format draw the eye through the landscape in successive stages, while the calligraphic inscription and red seals form an integral part of the pictorial balance.
His name became closely associated with elegant landscapes and literati painting.
