TEAPOT AND LID WITH MERCANTILE-SHIPPING SCENES Meissen, ca. 1725-30. The paintwork in the style of C. F. Herold, with Augsburg silver-gilt mount by Elias Adam.

Egg-shaped teapot with a curved spout and a loop handle. Painted with fine landscape scenes depicting merchants and their wares on the shore of a port with buildings and ships. Each scene is in a gold cartouche with Böttger luster and with scrollwork in iron-red and purple. Domed lid featuring a circumferential port scene and figures. Underglaze blue sword mark and gold number 36. on both pieces. Gilt silver mount marked EA for Elias Adam.
