TEN ASSORTED METAL OJIME
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Comprising an inlaid iron circular ojime carved with a cockerel pecking for food in a garden, signed Isshu, the second also of iron, in the form of a gourd, unsigned, the third of brass, tubular and cast with a flowering plant around a wood pole in a stream, signed Kazumasa, the fourth of shakudo inset with pierced metal floral medallions, signed Naokatsu, the fifth, sixth and seventh of inlaid shibuichi, each decorated in flat relief of silver or shakudo with a geometric motif, the eighth rectangular of silvered-metal, each side engraved Isshu gin (isshu silver coin) and nishu (nishu silver coin), the ninth of silver filigree, carved with foliate and spiral motifs, the tenth circular, gilt and partially pierced with chrysanthemum heads. The largest: 2.2cm (7/8in) high; the smallest: 1.1cm (7/16in) high. (10).
