THATCHER MARGARET: (1925-2013)

THATCHER MARGARET: (1925-2013) British Prime Minister 1979-90. T.L.S., Margaret H. Thatcher, one page, 8vo, Westminster, London, 26th September 1961, to Miss. V. E. Watson, on the printed stationery of the House of Commons. Thatcher thanks her correspondent for their ´fully detailed´ letter, remarking ´I will take great care of the contents and return them when my enquiries are complete´ and further informing Watson ´I have had a preliminary reply from the Ministry of Education to say that they are looking into the whole question´. Together with an official House of Commons envelope addressed to Miss. Watson and postmarked at the House of Commons, 18th September 1961 (and therefore evidently belonging to an earlier piece of correspondence from Thatcher). VG, 2

An early letter from Thatcher´s political career; the future Prime Minister had been elected Member of Parliament for Finchley in October 1959 and at the time of the present letter was the Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry for Pensions (1961-64).
