Footnotes:
Cyndi Lauper wore these pieces, along with dozens of more accessories and a crystal-adorned chandelier headdress in the 'True Colors' music video as well as a photoshoot for the April 1986 issue of Interview magazine.
Following her success of True Colors, Lauper transcended her role as a pop star into a timeless female icon. Shot by Matthew Rolston and styled by Laura Wills of Screaming Mimi's, the portrait was an homage to a 1923 photograph of Hollywood silent movie star Mae Murray.
Lauper loved the theatrical, Old Hollywood vision Rolston created so much that she requested to incorporate the ensemble in the 'True Colors' music video, alongside her iconic newspaper skirt outfit.
