THE BUBBLER' JUKEBOX

[ translate ]

Wurlitzer
USA, 1947
In working condition
150 kg
152 × 81,5 × 64 cm

Provenance:
Private collection, Switzerland

The term 'jukebox' comes from the creole language & comes from 'jook' or 'juke', which humorously describes 'wicked' music, dance or language.

The Swiss fashion designer Paul M. Fuller and the inventor Homer Capeheart were behind the most successful jukebox of all times. They created a colourful music machine, decorated with chrome in Art Deco style, to impress clients, who were not only interested in the music qualities of the machine. In the year 1946 the 'Bubbler' model 1015, designed by Fuller, with its gas bubbles rising through pipes, became the most popular jukebox of all time.

This original Bubbler from 1947 is a fantastic example of that era. Even today it has not lost any of its fascinating qualities. The air bubble pillars and the colourful rotating cylinders are in good working condition. The wooden frame with its mirror inlays and rich Art Deco chrome strips are all original and unrestored. The sound is as magical as it was in 1947!
