One of the most impressive mirrors of this type to come on the market in years. Carved American Eagle with outstretched wings holds a (4) brass-ball chain in its beak. Molded rondel frame with repeating balls and ebonized liner supports the mirror. The frame in turn is bracketed above and below with carved flora. 76 H x 41 1/2 inches. Together with a copy of Bowditch's Practical Navigator sixth edition 1826 and a silver plated tray engraved Alfred Bowditch 1901. N.B. This mirror is from Salem MA and was purchased when he was living at the Nathaniel Bowditch home at 9 North Street 1811-1823. It has since passed through direct descent from Nathaniel Bowditch. (Pedigree line of descent can be produced)
