THIRD REICH WAR ART BOOK: 'FEUER UND FARBE'

[ translate ]

Scarce Nazi photo book: 'Feuer und Farbe' ('Fire and Color') by Walther Troge (Vienna: Wilhelm Frick Verlag), 1943. 200+ pp. 8.75 x 9.75 in., with tan boards, black spine, and a gilt sword on the front cover. Beginning with a six-page overview of the subject of war and art, the book goes on to describe the new face of war and provides an excellent index to the 155 reproductions of paintings, depicting troops engaged in combat. The book includes paintings of Knight's Cross Holders, members of the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler, SS Division Wiking, DAK and Erwin Rommel, war scenes from the 1939 invasion of Poland, western Europe in 1940 and Operation Barbarossa in the Soviet Union by Wolf Willrich, and many other prominent soldiers and officers within the Third Reich. The book was likely presented to an individual, as the first page bears the dedication 'In Memory of War Christmas, 1944', and is signed 'Der Vorstand' ('The Board') above the signatures of two unidentified individuals. The top-left corner of the first page bears a slightly faded DAF inmprint. Slightly soiled at spots, else very good condition.
