THOMAS MOLESWORTH (1890-1977) WROUGHT IRON BURRO ASHTRAY STAND

[ translate ]

Patinated wrought iron sculptural ashtray, Burro, unsigned, attributed to Thomas Molesworth (American, 1890-1977), c. 1938, donkey with removable double-sided ashtray emulating saddle bags, rising on narrow, elongated legs, on round base, possible repair to ears, approx 26.25"h, 9"diam, 8.1lbs
Condition Report: 4.20.24-In my opinion regarding LOT: 2109-I am not an expert on Thomas Molesworth sculptures, this is the first I have seen, the metal shows some overall intrinsic imperfections such as pitting and oxidation (may be inherent to the creation process?), there is some overall minor spotting and wear particularly noted to ashtrays, the burros ears show visible joins as pictured, I am unsure if this is how it was constructed or a repair/replacement??, I have taken images for your review, the sculpture stands sturdy, I do not observe any missing or broken elements
Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog. For additional information, including condition reports, please utilize the ASK A QUESTION tab found in each lot.
