THOMAS ROWLANDSON (1756-1827) When Lambeth walks the streets pencil, pen and ink and watercolour 12.7 x 18 cm Property from a Private London Collection. Thomas Rowlandson, son of a wool and silk merchant, studied at the Royal Academy Schools between 1772 and 1778 where he developed his skills as a draughtsman. His work is unique for a Royal Academy student as he chose never to work with oils and instead chose to produce sketches and etchings.
