THREE CHINESE YIXING ZISHA TEAPOTS 19th Century - Republic Period 十九世紀至民國時期 宜興紫砂茶壺三件 Comprising a square section teapot potted with flared sides and moulded to one side with an inscription in archaistic script, the base impressed with a four-character Yixing zisha mark, the inside cover with a seal mark, together with another square-form teapot moulded with large archaistic characters to either side and the top of the finial, the base and inside cover impressed with character marks, and a small teapot inscribed around the exterior and cover, the base and inside cover with impressed marks, raised on a wood stand, 13.8 - 19.2cm long (7) - PROVENANCE: Previously in the collection of Oleg P. Peresypkin, a long-term Ukrainian resident of Shanghai and later Hong Kong; Later inherited by Augustus Fletcher (1928-2020), thence by descent [see image of receipt]. From 1948 to 1958 Gus Fletcher served in the Colonial Police in Malaya, and latterly was Assistant Superintendent of Police and Area Special Branch Officer in the Kuala Pilau and Bahau Police Districts of Negri Sembilan. He was awarded the George Medal in 1957 after a combined police and military operation code-named “Googly” during the Malayan Emergency.
