the first, with a boxwood pipe case carved with plovers in flight over cresting waves, glass ojime in imitation of carnelian agate, and a single case inro with a single raised bird on each side, the top inlaid with an insect and a butterfly, unsigned; the next a lacquered fine rattan pipe case with silver metal rims, containing a bamboo pipe decorated with ink design of clouds, glass ojime in imitation of carnelian agate, and a molded leather purse with scrolling raised linear design, with a mixed metal fuchi as a clasp; and a softwood carved figure of Ashinaga clasping the bamboo pipe with wood ojime and a humorous single case inro formed as a legless figure with raised arms holding the cords, the opening of a comic mask netsuke, the body carved with a pipe and water bowl (3)

Condition: Lacquered rattan pipe case has wear and lacquer worn. Bird inro has staining in various small spots scattered across sides and underside. Leather purse worn, and scuffed to edges and especially corners.
