Property from the Andrew Shine Collection
TIFFANY FURNACES
CAKE DISH

circa 1922
favrile glass, gilt and enameled bronze
impressed LOUIS C. TIFFANY FURNACES INC. 501 with the firm's monogram
7 in. (17.8 cm) high
8 in. (20.3 cm) diameter

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, this delicate and complex object displays vibrant iridized violet and cobalt coloration around the perimeter of the coupe surrounding an opalescent coupe that is mold-blown with a basket-weave texture. The glass displays with scattered minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and minor surface irregularities inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The glass surfaces with some occasional extremely fine and minor surface scratches, consistent with age and gentle handling. The bronze surfaces with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, and wear to the patina consistent with age and gentle handling. The bronze trim around the perimeter of the coupe presents with a few shallow dents, possibly inherent to production. The enamel with a few minor losses, only visible upon close inspection and consistent with age and handling. The enamel with one larger loss measuring approximately 1/4 x 1/8 inch on one of the sections adjacent to the center point of the handle. Formerly in the collection of the Louis C. Tiffany Garden Museum, Japan, this lot is accompanied by its custom, velvet-lined Garden Museum box.
