Property from the Geyer Collection
TIFFANY STUDIOS
"APPLE BLOSSOM" TABLE LAMP

circa 1900-1905
leaded glass, patinated bronze
shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK
base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/33184
22 in. (55.9 cm) high
15¾ in. (40 cm) diameter of shade

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. This shade is comprised of a stunning selection of mottled, confetti, and chipped glass interspersed with sculptural cast bronze branches, achieving a strongly textural and naturalistic effect. The composition is articulated in a wide range of pinks, greens, and soft whites, and is made particularly rich by the notes of aubergine within the confetti glass. The shade with approximately 3 cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The shade with some extremely minor traces of surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines, consistent with age. The upper shade ring with some evidence of sensitively undertaken releading, possibly executed by Tiffany Studios at the time of production. The base is in very good condition and displays a rich brown patina. The bronze surfaces with scattered minor surface scratches and abrasions, and with some traces of light surface soiling concentrated to the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle use. The stem, socket cluster, wheel and riser appear to be later reproductions, indicating that this lamp possibly originated as a kerosene lamp and was later adapted for electricity. With period sockets. With a period finial in very good condition with a few shallow dents and light wear to the patina, consistent with age and gentle handling. A highly naturalistic springtime shade composition distinguished by the unusual incorporation of cast bronze branches, enhancing the sculptural quality of the shade.
