[ translate ]

Property from the Andrew Shine Collection
TIFFANY STUDIOS
CARVED COMPOTE DISH

circa 1910
favrile glass
engraved 1702 L.C. Tiffany-Favrile with the firm's paper label
6⅛ in. (15.6 cm) high
6½ in. (16.5 cm) diameter

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. The perimeter of the coupe is decorated with a finely carved foliate motif and displays strong iridescence. The glass displays with scattered minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and minor surface irregularities inherent in the making and not visually detractive. The glass surfaces with some occasional extremely fine and minor surface scratches, consistent with age and gentle handling. The outer perimeter of the foot with a few minute fleabite flecks, not visually distracting. An extremely elegant form with delicate decoration.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
