[ translate ]

Property of a Distinguished Collector
TIFFANY STUDIOS
"LABURNUM" FLOOR LAMP

circa 1910-1915
with a “Chased Pod” Junior floor base
leaded glass, gilt bronze
shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1537
base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/379
74½ in. (189.2 cm) high
24¼ in. (61.6 cm) diameter of shade

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. By all accounts the shade and base pairing appear to be an original unit, as evidenced by the soft gilt finish on the shade leading and the complimentary gilt patina of the floor base and finial. The larger shade ring and taller base column on the junior floor base all appear to be original, likely indicating the lamp was a special order to accommodate this 24-inch Laburnum model. The shade is executed in a wide range of yellows, from lemon yellow to warm orange-yellow and pale orange. The laburnum blossoms are offset by vibrant green leaves interspersed with notes of olive green and turquoise, and an exceptionally rich ultramarine ground. The shade with approximately 30-40 cracks dispersed throughout, all stable, and to be expected considering the vast number of individual pieces of glass required to execute a shade of this scale and complexity. The shade with some surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the lead lines, consistent with age. As is commonly seen with the Laburnum model, a few of the lower panicles along the bottom irregular border are very subtly bent inward. These elements all appear stable. The base presents with a luminous gilt patina with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, minor discolorations and wear to the patina, consistent with age and gentle handling. With replaced sockets. With a period Pigtail finial in good condition with some surface scratches, abrasions, some occasional shallow dents, and with wear to the patina, including two bands of concentrated wear on the pigtail. An outstanding example of this desirable shade design, displaying an exceptionally artistic glass selection with rich coloration.
