Note: Tiffany & Co. exhibited a water pitcher of this design at the 1867 Paris International Exhibition. The English silver firm Elkington & Co. acquired the water pitcher and copied its design in 1868, demonstrating Tiffany's growing design influence upon other silver manufacturers. Elkington's design is illustrated in Charles Venable, Silver in America 1840-1940, 1994, p.70, illus. 3.5.
