TIMBRE CASA SAVOIA IN CHISELED BRONZE. SCULPTURE (25 x 33 cm)
Traditional and very ancient lion of the Dukes of Savoy, it represents the Duchy of Chablais (Chiablese) and also the Duchy of Aosta, with two golden feathered wings. The heraldic Lion projects from its mouth the Savoyard knot, as an affirmation of power. It also carries a Savoia shield on its back. Under the animal’s paws there is a snake being subdued by the powerful lion. This may be a clear allusion to the domination of this very ancient medieval lineage over Milan. Today it is placed on a red velvet plaque.
Already Tomás I de Saboia (1177 - 1233), or Amedeo VI (1334 - 1383), used them as the crest of their heraldry.
This piece was made to be attached to a gate or grille, since it has holes for screws on the back.
The winged wings as a crest can be seen and documented here: Digitale Bibliothek - Münchener Digitalisierungszentrum
Grünenberg, Konrad: Wappenbuch - BSB Cgm 9210, [S.l.] Bayern, 1602 - 1604 [BSB-Hss Cgm 9210].
Weight: 1.550 kg. VERY GOOD CONDITION. Collector’s piece.
From the private library of the Kings of Italy.

TIMBRE CASA SAVOIA EN BRONZE CISELÉ. SCULPTURE (25 x 33 cm)
Grünenberg, Konrad : Wappenbuch - BSB Cgm 9210, [S.l.] Bayern, 1602 - 1604 [BSB-Hss Cgm 9210].
Poids : 1,550 kg.

早在 Tomás I de Saboia(1177 - 1233)或 Amedeo VI(1334 - 1383)的时代,他们就已将其用作其纹章的顶饰(timbre)。
Digitale Bibliothek - Münchener Digitalisierungszentrum
Grünenberg, Konrad: Wappenbuch - BSB Cgm 9210, [S.l.] Bayern, 1602 - 1604 [BSB-Hss Cgm 9210]。
