[TIPOGRAFIA MILANESE] - SAN GIROLAMO (347-420 d.C.) - Vita de Sancti Padri vulgare historiate. Milan: Scinzenzeler, Giovanni Angelo, 1508. Elegant Milanese edition of the early sixteenth century illustrated with 250 woodcuts of popular taste previously appeared in other editions by Ulderico Scinzenzeler of this classic of Christian literature. A single copy, not complete, has been previously auctioned (1967) on RBH. Folio (278 x 200mm). Title within an historiated woodblock frame with the title surmounted by a vignette, fourth leaf within an architectural woodcut border and with a large half-page illustration, 250 woodcut illustrations in text, woodcut initials (slight occasional spotting, some browning to the edges, small spot in the lower right margin of the final 6 leaves that minimally affects the text with small restorations, some leaves reinforced in the inner margin). 18th-century calf with gilt spine, title on label. Provenance: "B.P.P.P." e "1579" (inscriptions on title).
