FIRST EDITION, in which Tissadier recounts his 24 balloon ascents in a 10-year period. His first trip was conducted at Calais in 1868 with Claude-Jules Dufour; in September of 1870, he escaped the besieged Paris by balloon during the Franco-Prussian War. His work is appended with Henri Giffard's method of preparing hydrogen for use in balloons. Brockett 11924.
