TRANSPORT POT (1) - Terracota - ZULU - South Africa
This is a very old beer transport pot. This object served to transport the sorghum beer from one village to another. There was one family responsible for preparing the sorghum beer. The Zulu were very well organized. I collected this pot in situ in 1985 in the Nongoma district. He's very special and intact. The orange colours on the pot are no coincidence. . . . each family had applied some mark to these pots. This served to know at big parties , which transport pot belonged to who. At the bottom one can see from what period this pottery pot is from. It is a rare and prized object for a collector of terracotta objects. Please have a good look at the pictures. This terracotta pot is heavy. Given the fragility I send all terracotta pottery through the firm GLS, with whom I have good experiences. It may be - depending on the country in Europe that a small surcharge should be paid extra to the seller. For shipments outside Europe, an offer must be requested from DHL, Fedex or firm of the customer's choice.
