1986 TVR Tasmin 2. 8 Convertible 4-speed NO RESERVE! Number of doors: 2 Fuel type: Petrol Year of manufacture: 1986 Transmission: 4-speed. Colour: Red Number of cylinders: 6 Road tax: none (in the Netherlands) VAT/Margin: Margin Registration: USA registration and customs handled, all EU import duties have been paid. Affordable British convertible. The development of the Tasmin, as the first wedge was called at its introduction, started in 1977 at TVR's premises and by the end of 1979 not one but three models were ready for production. These 3 models were initially fitted with a V6 engine supplied by Ford Cologne with a capacity of 2,792cc. This engine had fuel injection and 162 hp. The standard gearbox had 4 gears. A modest facelift was carried out in 1983 for the whole series with the introduction of the Tasmin Series 2. By the end of 1983, the V6 block was equipped with a catalytic converter to meet emission requirements for export (which resulted in a power loss of about 15 hp) . This also made it possible to export the 280i model to North America where sales started in the spring of 1984. There was still a captive audience of buyers there and wedges soon went across the pond in larger numbers, both to the USA and to Canada. Of course all left-hand drive. We purchased this TVR in California from an enthusiast. It has neat paint and the interior is in fine, usable and original condition. The engine is a 2. 8L V6 with a manual 4-speed gearbox. It has nice, original wheels. The car drives, brakes and steers, but can do with some finishing touches. There are no periodic vehicle inspection regulations in the US, this is the reason why driving home with the car is never recommended. The TVR still needs to be technically addressed. There is a crack in the windscreen, but it is not in the field of view. Relive old times with this rarity from the 80s! In addition, it’s a great investment with good future returns. The car can be viewed and picked up in Appingedam, the Netherlands.
