Twelve large, highly decorative antiphonal leaves extracted from a choirbook used for the celebration of the Divine Office in the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri in Rome.
550 x 370mm, 5 lines of text on four-line staves, contemporary pagination, the non-consecutive leaves containing the text for the feasts of the Holy Name of Jesus, St Gabriel, St Joseph spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Raphael and others, decorative rubrics, large decorated and illuminated initials and tailpieces throughout, two historiated initials (140 x 140mm).
Provenance: Painted in 1724 for the use of Oratorio dei Filippini, one of the most splendid Baroque churches in Rome
