TWO CHINESE CARVED AND GILDED JADE PLAQUES, QING DYNASTY
each spinach jade rectangular panel in later wood frames, on side with pair of qilong confronting a flaming pearl amidst cloud scrolls, the other with Qianlong marks and two seal marks, the other panel with the same qilong and flaming pearl design, the reverse with four row calligraphic inscription, with gilt highlights (2)

Acquired by Wyndham Hughes-Hallett (1843-1905), born in British India and served in the British military, he was stationed in Japan and China.
Dimensions: Plaques approx.: 4 5/8 x 7 5/8 in.
Condition: One plaque broken in half at lower section and re stuck; surface dirt to plaques; frames loose, one broken. Gilt heavily worn, but still remaining where edges were protected by frame. From a local collector, and only have the two panels.
