QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD, LATE 17TH / EARLY 18TH CENTURY

each stocky beast with rounded hollow body raised on four short legs, the large lion's head with open jaws and a spout emerging between pointed teeth, the short bushy tail rising up behind and also hollowed out as a spout, brightly enameled with iron-red spiral motifs on the body and with aubergine and yellow chilong on green-ground flame motifs molded in relief on the flanks, the mane and head painted in green, red, yellow and aubergine with black line details, applied paper labels Chait Galleries, New York

Condition Report:
Both with restorations to the spouts at the mouth and tail, as well as the ears, with associated overspray. One with a Y shaped hairline extending from the left front leg across the lower body to the hind quarters on one side with one prong extending across the base. The other with its left back leg off and restuck. Both with scattered touch ups to enamels. Overall with firing imperfections and minor wear to the surface.
