TWO EMBROIDERED MILITARY RANK BADGES, BUZI
19th century
Finely worked in lustrous couched gold, silver and coloured threads, the first with a qilin for the first military rank, on rockwork amongst crashing waves, and five bats in flight amongst dense ruyi clouds before a wan diaper ground; the second with a tiger, for the fourth military rank, standing on rockwork above waves and a wide lishui band, amongst cloud scrolls and Daoist emblems.
The largest 29.5cm x 30.2cm (11 5/8in x 12in). (2).
