TWO FRAMED PAPER FANS IN THE FRENCH TASTE
Two framed paper fans, in the French taste, the first having 12 mother of pearl ribs and two guards, each with silver and gilt floral inlay, the paper fan decorated with a scene of 18th century French mistrals and dancers; the second having 17 ribs and two guards all with silver and gilt Rococo style inlay, the paper fan having three vignettes depicting 18th century French court life, both in gilt fan frames behind glass, apparently unmarked.
Approximate dimensions: larger frame overall h. 15.25", w. 25", d. 2.5".
Condition Report: Not removed from frames. The first having minor wear to creases and some loss of silver and gilt on guards; the second, having a chip in the paper on the lower left, tarnish to silver, minor separations at the creases on 2-4 ribs.
