TWO GOOD BRITISH BURL WOOD TEA CADDIES

1. The early 19th century sarcophagus form Regency style example with line inlay and stamped brass ornament each end with ring handle, inlaid escutcheon, the interior divided into two compartments lined with a tin lead alloy referred to in the period as 'tea pewter', nicely patinated exterior finish with inlaid escutcheon. Scattered old repairs and replacements, no major damage or repair, intact and complete with covers.

2. A handsome oval example circa 1900 with book matched burl veneers inside and out, rosewood veneered interior rim, hinged lid opening to the covered interior.

Measures 5.5 x 10.75 x 6.5 and 6.5 x 8 x 4.25 inches.

Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.
