TWO MARIGOLD-YELLOW-GROUND SILK EMBROIDERY PANELS
Late 18th / early 19th century
Each of rectangular shape, one with a central roundel of peaches reserved on a rectangular panel of octagonal cells with key-fret scrolls and centered by flowers all with a wide border with bats and Buddhist emblems amidst scrolling foliage and multiple flowerheads of hibiscus, lotus, and pinks; the other of more square format and decorated with a formalized central composite flowerhead and smaller flower heads within a C-scroll border set on a square panel with bats and emblems including musical stones at the corners, all set on a boredr with further bats and floral scrolling.
43 x 30in (109.2 x 76.2cm) and 32 1/4 x 33 3/4in (82.9 x 85.7cm) (2).
