American, late 19th - early 20th Century. Both are folksy Empire-style miniature paint-decorated chests of drawers. The larger (constructed from wood cigar boxes) is grain-decorated with bold, scrolled backsplash and period-specific "S" scroll sides/front legs, and two drawers, 17"h. 9"d. 15"w. The smaller four-drawer chest constructed from poplar in a simpler Empire form and vinegar graining. 5"l. 10.75"h. and 9"w. From the collection of the late Audrey Caspari (New Jersey).
