TWO POLYCHROME-PAINTED ENAMELLED COPPER PIPE ELEMENTS Qajar Iran, 19th century Comprising the bowl and stem of a Qajar pipe, the bowl of cylindrical shape with a circular rim, resting on a flat circular base, the tapering tubular stem protruding from the side, gilt and painted in polychrome enamels, the decoration consisting of Qajar oval portraits of youths interspersed with diagonal bands of floral and vegetal motifs, and golden beading, further stylised gilt foliage to the base against a cobalt blue ground, 9.3cm long; and the hose terminal of a water pipe (qalyan), with a bulbous pommel on one end, painted in pinks and blues with large flowers on a white and gilt ground, 21.5cm full length.Click here to share:
