Table mirror - Wood, important table frame

[ translate ]

Important original table frame in gilded wood. It is rare to find this kind of frames because the common ones are in original bronze or brass or reproductions from the 1950s, this one is in gilded wood even if worn.
It has an oval base with the internal part in marble to give it stability covered by a rounded wooden surround on the perimeter of which a rich decoration with floral motifs is in relief. A round of flowers is beautifully worked
The base measures 14cm long by 10cm high. On this rests a fixed part in the shape of a semi circle richly carved with acanthus leaves to which the central tilting frame is screwed at the sides, also oval in shape with a first round of dots followed by a smooth part and then a decoration in the end.
The precious cymatium that covers the upper part descending with a wooden carving decorated with flowers and a central rosette deserves a separate discussion. The cymatium is 7 cm high in the upper central part and 20 cm long.
This second part of the frame is 31 cm high and 23 cm wide. The golden one shows the signs of aging.
The entire frame measures 40cm high and 26cm wide.
Photos are more explanatory than words to understand beauty and peculiarity
It is part of the furnishings from the family palace that have been received and due to the large quantity some prefer to sell instead of keeping them locked in a wardrobe.
My ancestors always gave a lot of importance to the furnishings of the palace and always had objects made to enrich and renew it and each object had to be an expression of beauty and care
For them the house was a very important business card, which is why they relied on skilled carvers and cabinetmakers.
As I was saying, this type of frame that generally had inside the mirror and was used as a toilet by women of high rank to apply make-up was made of bronze. Very rare to find it in wood in this state and above all so richly decorated.
I used it as a photo holder but you can easily put a mirror on it or it is so beautiful to use it empty as a furnishing object.
It can easily be placed in a classic house with antique furniture or in a modern one given the simplicity but at the same time the importance of the carvings.
I left it as original as I found it, I only removed the ancient photo of one of my ancestor to sell it. I love that antique objects convey their past and in principle I leave them original when they are in good condition like this one.
The dimensions are so right that it is easy to place on a table or chest of drawers.
Rare to find this kind of frames considering the centuries gone by in good condition with all the decorations and only the gilding worn.
If you want, as I was saying, you can use it as a wooden table frame to place photos or an antiqued cut mirror.
When an object is beautiful, it can always be used.
I ship via private courier and not postal so that it arrives first and has double packaging given the delicacy of the frame and the splendid upper cymatium will be protected by thousand-bubble wadding and sponge with a first round of cardboard and will be placed with polystyrene in a box.
Shipping costs depend on the buyer's place of residence if Europe band 1 or 2 such as Switzerland United Kingdom Eastern countries or more expensive Norway Malta Cyprus and then the text of the world
