"Most propaganda images promoting the war effort were focused on land tasks and few were dedicated to work on the river networks. This poster illustrates a government worker navigating his patrol boat with steadfast concentration. His steely gaze is fixed on the job at hand. His blocky form and square jaw line is characteristic of Soviet style figurative propaganda. The vibrant blue and green color scheme is striking in its departure from the usual socialist red and yellow colors" (Deborah Salter).
