Tall Jalisco Standing Nude Female Sheepface Figure

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely pottery figure of a female depicted standing nude of the characteristic "sheep-face" type with large, heavy-lidded eyes, a huge, pointed nose, and a slightly-open, smiling mouth. Short arms extend from her broad shoulders, each featuring a bangle and a petite hand with delineated fingers as she stands upon bulbous legs with bifurcated feet for support. A flattened headdress crowns her head with a chinstrap that falls below her mouth and behind elongated ears with earspools. Liberal remains of black pigment further adorn her body, highlighting her prominent nipples and genitalia. Size: 2.7" L x 7.4" W x 9.2" H (6.9 cm x 18.8 cm x 23.4 cm)
