Tanto by Sadamune

A tanto mounted in a lacquered koshirae with coordinated metal fittings. The saya combines a textured reddish-brown lacquered surface with a ribbed black-lacquer section near the mouth. The kozuka is decorated with a stylized net-like motif in contrasting metal, while the tsuka is wrapped in dark cord over ray skin and fitted with gilt menuki.The mounting is completed by a metal tsuba decorated with floral scrolls and a kojiri with restrained ornament. The varied lacquer textures and understated metal decoration create a balanced and refined ensemble. Length: 41cm
