Tea caddy/ box - Brass, Mother of pearl, Rosewood, Wood (Amboyna)

A 19th century tea chest made during the French Napoleon III period around 1850-1870.
The tea chest is made of a light wood and glued with Rio Rosewood veneer. Richly decorated with brass piping & marquetry of Amboyna root, engraved brass & mother of pearl in various curled flower & leaf motifs. In addition, the curved lid and the bottom have extremely refined and sharp ribbed edges!
On the inside there was an interior with most likely two crystal or porcelain flasks to store the tea. Unfortunately, this is no longer present/removed, probably because the fragile bottles have been broken and the tea chest has been given a different function.
The tea chest still has its original hinges and locks, i. e. brass hinges, lock eye and lock with working key.
The entire tea box has a beautiful deep golden orange color with chocolate brown shades and a beautiful semi-gloss!

A relatively large, unusually designed and richly decorated tea chest with beautiful contrasting materials!
