Tea service in Vermeil Napoleon III period - Gold plated, Silver - Philippe Berthier- France - Second half 19th century
Very nice tea set, model called "Gordian knot" in vermeil (gold on solid silver) , Minerva hallmark and master goldsmith mark of Philippe Berthier, famous Parisian goldsmith of the Second Empire, engraved in 1841, the whole is from the Napoleon III period, with the original box in blackened wood and brass lines, 12 small spoons, a large teaspoon, a sugar tongs and a tea strainer (dent at the base) . Good overall condition with some wear traces, note a veneer chip at the base of the box, see photos. Spoon dimension 14. 3 cm, total weight without the box 271 g.
