Very rare English silver teapot in the ‘Chinoiserie’ style, grip made in the shape of an Asian figure, body decorated with cherubs and flowers, hump made in the shape of a stylised lion’s head. The term Chinoiserie refers to a period in European art, starting in the 18th century, when the style of many works (furniture, paintings and objects) was significantly influenced by Chinese art. The hallmarks on the main body are corroded and illegible, thanks to the hallmarks under the lid we can identify it as made in London in 1820. Size: 28 cm × 17 cm × 16. 5 cm. Weight: 804 g.
