Tekke Central Carpet
West Turkestan, c. 326 x 198 cm, 18th century large, aubergine-coloured central carpet with 4 x 11 large Tekke guls as field pattern and extremely rare Tekke secondary motifs in small format, also remarkable is the “shell” main border, outlined by a variety of patterned stripes, both elems are decorated with tree shapes; the carpet is preserved in a fragmented condition, with consistently low and partially bare pile areas, trimmed all around, several losses, backed with red fabric, a museum-quality collector’s piece.
